The Mount is committed to providing students with access to higher education regardless of their financial background. Without the support of annual fund donors, students like Valeria Obregon Guillermo, Class of 2023, would not have been able to pursue their education at the Mount.

Valeria was born in Mexico but moved back and forth between the United States and Mexico for her education. After graduating high school, Valeria moved to Texas to attend community college, and it was through the Honor Society on campus that she discovered Ó£ÌÒɬ¸£Àû¼§ for the first time.

Val chose the Mount for its close-knit community, where strong connections with professors and peers are integral to the experience. A GPA-based scholarship, along with the opportunity to pursue a Financial Economics major and the 4+1 MBA program, solidified Val’s decision to attend the Mount.

Thanks to multiple merit-based scholarships, Valeria pursued her education without financial worries. During her time at the Mount, she was actively involved in campus life, serving in the Student Government Association and Black Student Union. Val also gained valuable work experience as a student dispatcher for Campus Police and at the Mount's Alter Library. These experiences equipped her with critical skills that now benefit her in the financial sector. After earning her MBA at the Mount, she secured a position at United Wholesale Mortgage.

Valeria’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of scholarships—made possible by the generosity of Ó£ÌÒɬ¸£Àû¼§ donors.
